The cultural clash reunion

One normal picture. And that’s because Javier took it on his phone and sent it to me. Dinner at the Greek restaurant Xenos. Very charming place in Crows Nest. Always vibrant which I like.

We could not stop laughing. My camera keeps making these weird pictures where everyone looks, well not great….

After drinks comes dinner and after dinner comes Gelato. A must if you are hanging out with Ambrose.
But this is not your ordinary ice-cream place. This is heaven in you are into ice creams. Or any sweets, they have cronut’s or croissants with ice cream inside…just saying. The place is calles C9 Chocolate & Gelato. Just go there.

Last night we had a proper reunion with some of the old Barcelona crew. Started with an after-work in Crows News and I could not help but t feel like its was like the good old days in Barcelona. It’s such a cultural thing, and of course it helps when you live in a country where the weather actually “welcomes” you to make plans and do something after work.
Yesterday during drinks we were actually discussing the cultural differences we experience.
For example the difference between Swedes and Australians. Swedish people tend to be more direct. In Sweden it is socially accepted to answer your phone with a ” Hello”. Not in Australia. I remember Ambrose being so shocked when he heard me answer my phone. Australians answer more like ; ” Nicci Speaking”.
Another example was asking for something in a store. In Sweden you go to the store attendee and you can say; Hi, shoes? with a smile of course. That means Hi, please tell me where I can find the shoe section in this store. In Australia life is not this easy. Here you have to go; G’day mate! How y’a going?! I am interested in maybe buying myself some shoes. If there is no troubles, would you please help me to find where your shoe section is located bla bla bla……

I mean, who the F*#@k has the time and energy for these kinds of conversations?? Am I wrong? Or have I perhaps too many years in Sweden, becoming a cold and too direct person. I don’t know. Somethings I actually think I moved around too much so now I have a little bit of one too many cultures in my brain. So I am not good in any country!

Okey, back to our evening. Ambrose came after work and so did Ninnie and Javier. I used to work with the two of them back in Barcelona when I worked for TMC. Great memories so it was really great to get a full night with them, just like back in the days.

I can’t wait when we get this whole partner Visa done and we go visit Europe. I am trying to convince Ambrose to do a summer trip this time. I want to show him my favorite spots in Europe, and visit new places that neither of us has been too. Like Croatia and Turkey.

And of course Barcelona. That city will forever be one of my favorite homes in the world.

Two shadows at Pearl Beach

Pearl beach. One of my favorites up here at the coast. I like the glow of the sand, makes it look like tiny pieces of gold.
This was on Sunday and whenever Ambrose has time off we are basically on a hunt for waves. And this Sunday was no exception.

I don’t mind it usually because I am normally swimming around and body surfing anyway. The only time it gets annoying is if I am done with the whole beach thing and I cannot get a hold of him because he is far out in the water. And I have the car keys, his wallet, both our phones so it’s not like I can leave, how would he find me ?
Might leave a note in the sand from now on;  “Got bored, at the cafe on top of the hill. See ya”

The normal solution would be to learn how to surf……I tried teaching me one time and it was like I was in the army so I quit. I did not even understand half the things he was talking about. Did you guys know that in Australia you get down on your knees and grab hold of the sand with your hands when a big wave comes over you?! What?

I miss the good old beaches in south of Europe where there is little or no action. Here its a constant fight for survival in the ocean. Don’t get me wrong, I think its much more fun to be in the ocean when there is a bit wavy. But not those that you need to know trick in order to escape death… just saying.

As I was saying a long time ago, Pearl Beach is beautiful, golden and often quite. We were there in the afternoon but there were no one there. We had the whole beach to yourself.  There is not alot of surf here usually, so if you are after that Avoca Beach might be a better option.

Ciao for now. xx

Baha’i House of worship – A Persian gift to Australia

The other day, after driving back to the coast from another event in Sydney, we drove by this beautiful building. We decided to stop and have a look. I hate those times when you say ; “maybe next time”. That almost never happens, at least not for us.

As we walked towards this beautiful temple  we were approached by a lovely  guide who told us more about it. Apparently this is called Baha’i House of Worship. It is a temple given to Australia as a gift by Persia.

As the guide was showing us around the temple I tried to make a joke to Ambrose, that I (Persian) was a  gift to him (Australia) He did not laugh. hahah. I thought it was such a good one myself!

The temple is as beautiful inside as it was on the outside. It is not much inside, just a couple of chairs and some large flower arrangements. I think they like to keep it simple. People go there mostly to meditate the guide told us. So that’s what we did. Well for a short time at least, I cant get Ambrose to sit still doing nothing for a very long time.

The only rules was that you could not take any pictures if any other person was in the temple. I waited for bit and then we took a couple of pictures of this gorgeous building. Such a nice gift!

If you guys want to find out more you can to so HERE

In the Jungle of Bondi

Ambrose choose Trio’s tasting plate. You get a small bite of everything and its to die for. Yum

A couple of pictures from our morning. Started with a jungle looking walk from our rented Airbnb town to the beach. All we wanted was a big breakfast and a swim in the ocean. The weather is hot and sticky so that’s what you want.
We went straight to Trio and luckily we got a table within 10 min. Trio used to be my absolute favorite place back in the days and I wanted really bad to show Ambrose how good this place is. He fell in love as well. We ordered well….everything!

After we got some drink mixture for when people are coming over to ours. I also went in to make a last confirmation on our bookings for tonight’s dinner in Bondi beach. I am starting to think I have some crazy organizational issues. I cant relax wherever I am organizing the smallest event. Really need to learn to relax.

Now the boys came and picked up Ambrose for a quick swim at Bronte beach. I am relaxing for a bit instead here at the apartment. Maybe I have time for a quick nap before people start coming over.

Last night we had dinner and waaaayyyy too many drinks with a couple of friends in Bronte. But think we were all back around midnight so we should be able to do today as well. So the plan for rest of today is : drinks and birthday cake at our place at 3pm. Pub/cocktail crawl, working ourselfs down towards Bondi beach where we will finish tonight with a dinner at Mad Pizza.

Now a quick meditation before I have to get ready. I really want to be meditating at least 20 min a day, so I need to start someday! xx

How to increase your productivity and performance – step by step

Mark Zuckerberg and Steve Jobs – Successful people to model

Today, as I was on the train back from my volunteer work, I came across a bunch of articles on Productivity & Performance. I find everything on how to improve yourself and how to be the best version of yourself very interesting.
If we are not evolving, progressing, learning, then whats the point?
Productivity is simply : get more done successfully with less effort. It was a whole lot of reading therefore I have just taken out some of the main points from what I’ve learned:

– Have a set time-frame and a clear plan. This will increase your chances to actually reach your goal.

–  Your goal must be specific and clear. And you must know WHY you want this goal to manifest. When you know why you want something, that will amplify your motivation and assist you to take necessary actions.

– Look over your daily habits. What are those small Rituals you have everyday? Are they benefiting you or are they driving you away from your goal? An example could be to set out a specific time for checking social media. This way you wont unconsciously waste your time and will instead gain more time to complete actions towards your goal. Another example is to put the clothes you are going to wear the night before. This “habit” or “ritual” will overtime save you hours in the mornings. Have you ever wondered why many successful people tend to wear the same outfit over and over? Mark Zuckerberg, Bill Gates, Obama, Steve Jobs. Read more about this HERE.

Next is a quick and relatively easy way to productivity and performance is often spoken of by Tony Robbins….

– Modeling. Robbins is over and over recommending people who want to get the most out of life to Model” other, already successful people. Find one or a couple of people you admire. Famous or not and study their behavior. How do they speak, how is their physiology. Do they spend alot of time choosing what outfit to wear in the morning? Will they snooze or wake up early to get more time to get to where they want. Are they willing to study and try to learn from people who know more then them or not? Do they spend a couple of hours a day scrolling true their phone, watching what others are up to?

– The last point I want to make is one from tony It is something he calls “chunking” and I will definitely start using this method in my life. Simplified chunking is: taking everything we have on our ” To Do Lists” and divide them into chunks, depending on where they belong. For example one for relationships, another for work/career and the third for health.
According to Tony once you have chunked these together it is easier to see what result you want.
I especially got motivated to start with Tony´s chunking after reading this ;

“When you start thinking of your to-do’s as clusters of desired outcomes, you’ll keep stress at bay and learn to focus on your greater goals, rather than getting overwhelmed of the minute details. Why? Because you will start to feel inspired, rather than forced to follow through. And when you feel so inspired by a purpose, you’ll come up with a more effective action plan to get there.”

Have a lovely day.xx

Remedy routines to enjoy with your partner

ways to recover together with your partner by doing a great skincare routine togetherI know we look super scary …. but lets share it anyway 🙂

Hope everyone has had a good day so far! Ours has been filled with all sorts of remedy routines. Ambrose came back from the bucks party quite sick. He is coughing badly and is also sunburned. Unfortunately he did have to go to work this morning and I spend most of my day doing volunteer work ( from a cafe, not the office today ) and studying. But as soon as we both got back to the house we have had all sorts of remedy routines. Well I have forced Ambrose into these face-sheet masks. I always try to do all kinds of different skincare routines on him hahah. He hates it, but he is sick and too weak to struggle against my partner routine madness.

Well, other than taking care of our skin our evening has been filled with ice-cream ( necessary when you are sick ).
Of course also watching cartoon in bed, and lots and lots of soothing tea. I make mine like this:

– Fresh organic fresh ginger (boil it and use the water)
– Fresh organic turmeric
– Manuka honey
– Fresh lemon juice

Now back to snuggles. Speak soon. Ciao

Sisters, Barcelona restaurants and Bucks party

sisters in barcelona

Oh these two <3

Without exaggeration, I truly think I have the best sisters in the world. I miss them everyday because we always have such a good time together. If only Barcelona was closer! All of us out eating and drinking at Ciudad Condal must be one of my top three hobbies. And yes, I actually DO consider eating out a hobby. Judge all you want…..

If you ever visit Barcelona, and I highly recommend you do at least one time. The you must must must visit this wonderful Tapas Bar and Restaurant. Click HERE more information. Also make sure to ask for their “Menu del Dia” which is their daily specials and only in Catalan but do what I did ; just point at other people’s dishes sitting around you. You wont be disposed I promise.

On the schedule today is Ambrose’s brother Leonard and sister Anastasia’s birthday lunch at 3pm. After that I am taking myself down to Bronte. All the boys are away for a three nights to celebrate Barts bucks party ( do you say celebrate??) so I am spending the weekend with Kali – the bride to be. Our weekend plan is simple : Rose’, trash TV, take away food and cheese. It’s such a shit weather so it fits perfect.

Earlier this morning was coffee with Ambrose followed by buying alcohol for the bucks party. It’s over 30 guys going to this thing, x three nights, so you can imaging how many cans and bottles Ambrose bought. He brought me to the shops as his side kick. I was pretty useless, did not carry anything, BUT I did put in a couple of bottles of champagne in the trolley. There is something about the popping and the bubbles that represents celebration. Nothing does that better than champagne. Perfect for a bucks party.

Alright enough chit-chat. Ambrose took our car so I need to find a train out of here.
I’ll see you guys again from Bronte. xx

Yacht club restaurant

Some pictures from earlier today. A pretty well spent Sunday after all. Started my morning at my friend Nour & Adams place in Cogeee, I slept over at theirs after the Hens’s party from Saturday. More on that later.
They have the most fatty, cute, funny dog called George. He was all about trying to steal our food, farting and snoring all night. I have never met a more funny dog than George. Wanted to take him home.
After some coffee and gossip over Saturday nights party I headed over to Surry Hills, had another coffee and read a couple of chapters from my new book – an Tony Robbins book ( of course haha)

Couple of my friends picked me up later on, we had lunch reservations at the yacht club restaurant down in Woolarah I think it called.
Beautiful restaurant, its something very relaxing about watching all these boats and yachts float around in that deep blue water.
I had the grilled fish before heading back to the coast by bus…yes by bus! it took almost 3 hour!

They are doing some work on the stupid train track so this was my only option. Ambrose dropped my off to Sydney but he was going to a family event and could not pick me up. Unfortunately. But finally I am back in our bed.
Tomorrow I see if I can find some nice pictures from Saturday – Kali’s hens. I had about 19 cocktails so I was not focusing too much on taking pictures but I think some of the girls sent me theirs. So hopefully there be another entry tomorrow. Ciao for now xx

Cozy Sunday with Sculpture by the Sea

Hey guys, just popping in to say hello. We have just finished out dinner – grilled sandwiches, non of us felt like cooking. Last night was amazing, we had one engagement party, followed by two birthday parties to attend to. So its safe to say we are making this Sunday as cozy and chilled as humanly possible.
We started the day with a long beach side breakfast with Bart and Kali in Bronte.
The whole day has been quite cozy actually. Besides the time we decides to do the walk from Bondi to Tamarama to see The Sculptures by the Sea. Its pretty amazing so if you are interested you can read more about it HERE.
But it was a sunny Sunday around the beautiful beaches of eastern suburbs. That means a couple of thousands of other people had the exact same idea as you… I don’t know if you can see it from the picture but there was people the whole way.
It was me, Ambrose and Kali, all tired, thirsty and very hangover. The last thing we wanted was to jostle with all those people. We decided to get some lunch instead. We chose Ramen, which has no become like a Sunday tradition for us.
Afterwards we were absolutely dead so drove back to their apartment to lie on the couch and watched Sex & the City for a couple of hours before driving back to the house.

Also got to see Kali’s wedding-dress. She picked such an beautiful dress, perfectly suited for her! I got goosebumps haha
Next week it her hen’s party. I need this whole week without alcohol because I know we will have alot of cocktails at the hens. I am such a week drinker. Cant handle anything!

Now: back to my cozy Sunday. Wonder if I can get this man next to me to watch some Sex and the City with me? I saw that he secretly enjoyed watching it back at Bart and Kali’s place. haha

A genius way on how to learn to stop procrastinating

So today has all been about rain. Rain, rain and then some more rain. It got me thinking about procrastination, here is why. You know how we humans have the tendency to use anything – in this case, rain, as an excuse to procrastinate things we know we should be doing.
Well I’m no different. In fact this is one area in my life, that if I could radically change, I would. This is, for me, one of the least qualities I don’t like about myself. One that I would pay to stop.
In fact, learning how to stop procrastinating was a factor that got me into the genius world of NLP in the first place.

But here is what’s funny, and slightly frustrating; when you learn something, and you know that this is a quality you want to change about yourself.  One that you actually can change, and you still don’t follow true and execute the techniques you’ve learned….this can be the most infuriating thing ever.

Today is Friday and I had set as a goal for this week to be up and running with one of these online projects. And still non of them have replied back to me with a position. And the one that did, said that my “skills” are too average, that alot of people have the same. I don’t stand out enough”. So I have spent most of today doing online tests to prove I am more “desirable” than their average clients.
This might not be procrastinating. I actually did alot of tests, and they take on average 40 min each. But my goal is to become one of those genius people who get much more done during their waking hours. They get up like 5 am and work towards their goals until late at night.

If you feel any of this resonates at all with you, then go ahead and click Play on this Youtube video on How to Stop Procrastinating.

Restaurant Guzman y Gomez in Parramatta

Yesterdays madness dinner. After volunteering in the city I went back to Parramatta to pick up Ambrose. Apparently Restaurant Guzman y Gomez had a opening promotion where they were giving out food and you could pay whatever you wanted, as long as it was gold coins. They were telling me that the line had not stopped since midday. We arrived at 6 pm and the line was still going. But it was fun, and the queue went fast. Both me and Ambrose chose their burrito bowl with pulled pork. I tried to make it into a Persian dish by adding a ridiculous amount of cilantro. I am not much for restaurant version of Mexican food, I do like tacos you make at home but if I have the option I have never chosen a Mexican restaurant. However, I would go back to Guzman y Gomez for a burrito bowl, I liked it.

After our chaotic dinner we went back to the creepy little motel in Parramatta where we had parked our car earlier that morning.  We got a insider tip that the receptionist at this place did some side business of her own, by renting our the motel guests car empty spaces to people for 8 bucks. hahaha genius.
An hour of gangster rap singalong in the car later, we bough some blueberries, ice-cream and organic Greek yogurt and had all that as snacks in bed while enjoying an episode of Bob’s Burgers.

Getting up this morning at 5:45 am was hard but I managed to get alot done so I am happy. Because I spend most of the morning talking on the phone with my family, my cousin, my mum and my aunty. It is literately impossible to have a short phone conversation within my family. Maybe that’s why I thought myself to wake up super early… I would not have anything done other way!

Good morning from The Shed

Good morning from The Shed in Paramatta. Yes this is where I am hanging out nowadays. Well, first time but yes..
We decided to drive today and due to lack of parking spaces in Paramatta, well in whole of damn Sydney, we asked Ambrose’s boss. She recommended a Motel (!?) nearby. We called to confirm and this grumpy yet husky voice told us the drill. You get in, park your car, visit “Nicoletta” at the reception and you pay 8 dollars. In Cash, she was very specific about the cash. We Could not stop laughing. This crappy Motel was the dodgiest place parking so far. And there was no normal way out of once you parked your car so we had to hunch and half crawl out from their “garden”.

Now Ambrose left for work and I am finishing my almond latte with cinnamon at The Shed. Lovely staff, makes such a difference. And great coffee, very very important 🙂
Alrighty now, (internal joke for Jasmin) time to find my way out of this place back to the city. Today is volunteering day and I am really looking forward to it. You guys have a good morning.

Japanese Gardens

Ambrose…look at him hahaha He was as fascinated- if not more, than all the children there together.
They all had special fish food so I had to go to their little boutique and get him a bag.

I am not gonna pretend to be cool, I was very excited as well!  If you find someone that share your enthusiasm for patting fishes at a Japanese Garden, I say you should stick to that person. hahaha

They had such big mouths and the children (and Ambrose of course) were all putting there feet in the water and let the fish suck on there toes. I draw the line there… super creepy.

These fishes were not shy at all, all they wanted was the food. Some of them were huge.

Okey here you got (sorry) around 1 million pictures from yesterdays unplanned date at the Japanese Gardens.
This is a great place to visit if you are ever up the coast.  Or if you are planing any special event, I saw that you can hire the venue for weddings and such.
Anyway, Sunday we woke up to more rain. We had a shower, went and got some take away breakfasts and went for a drive around the coast. Up to Terrigal, Erina, East Gosford and on the way back to the house, we Somersby. I like all of these places but if you only have a short amount of time, I would say pic Terrigal for sure.
My second suggestion would be this place – The Japanese Gardens located at East Gosford. I only took pictures of the colorful fishes but the whole place, even though it’s quite small, is really pretty.

Other than the Japanese garden they do have an art gallery, a restaurant and a cafe’ at this place. All lovely if you are after something different. A Japanese Garden might not be the first thing you think of when you think Sydney’s coast.

How to enjoy the weekend in Sydney

Saturday is here which is great, although it is raining, and they say that this is going to be a “wet” summer. But we decided to get out and make the most of and enjoy the weekend anyway. First stop, brunch – This Little Piggy’s.
This has now become a little enjoying the weekend tradition in our family. Family nowadays me & Ambrose. Hahah smallest gang, but we do alright.

Ambrose brother Leonard came by and joining us as we had our brunch under the rain. Luckily is not cold here in Sydney when it rains so perfectly fine to still sit outside. Quite cozy actually.

After running some errands we both went to do some exercise, I went to the gym to and Ambrose went for a long bike ride along the river.
The evening came and we ditched our original plans – Ice-skate Disco ( yep this is one way we do enjoy our weekend here haha) and went to see a movie instead. Blade Runner. Have you guys watched it yet? Soo good. We were both into it from beginning to end which is pretty hard because it went for 3 hours.
After watching this movie you will probobly appreciate nature and our planet more. Go see this movie and you understand what I mean.

4 little tips on what to choose to improve your day

There is so much power in focusing on the little things. If you really thing about it we might have, if we are lucky, around 70 years on this planet. If you are not careful and really conscious, you might just have life as something that just passed you by.
I don’t mean all this “be positive and fake happiness all the time” bullshit. I mean the only real power we have over our life is our ability to choose.
This morning, as I was working on statements to use on our social media for our Sister2Sister program, I thought of these little, but powerful tips :

– As you open your eyes in the morning, make sure to carefully choose your thoughts. Decide how you would like your day to be. What are your goals, not for your entire life (although also important) but only for this particular day. This goal includes things you want to have achieved, feeling you want to have and all the small progresses before you the end of the day. Mine for today is: to start a 7 day challenge with this , just to see if I can do it. Complete the 3 things on a “List of Importance” me and Ambrose promised to do for eachother. One hour at the gym.

– Use the fact that it is easy for us to trick our brain into a change of habit for ourselfs. Our brains can be divided into the conscious and the unconscious part if you will. Learn about this and put it to the test. Smile, even if you don’t feel like it. Change your body posture and your body movement to represent a posture and movement of pose, grace, confidence and joy. Do this enough and you be surprised how your thoughts and emotions follows whatever your body does. It is real “easy”. Whatever we do often enough, even if it is not “real” at that moment will cause our subconscious to actually believe we are just like that. This is not religion, this is not hokus pokus. This is a fact. Use it.

– Surround yourself with those who lift you up, those who want you to succeed. Positive people, hard working and genuine people. People who might not have alot but are always striving for more. People who believe in possibilities, in you, in themselves, in life. Again, we only live a short time on this planet, there is no room for anything less. Sometimes unfortunately, this means getting rid of people closest to you. I don’t mean hating anyone, blocking people out or never speaking to loved ones again. But I absolutely don’t believe you need to constantly hang out with a draining, negative and selfish person just because he or she is your close family member. Wish them the best from a distance. Christmas and birthdays are enough.

– Be open-minded. Be cool enough to try different things. Just because you don’t understand something or it sounds weird doesn’t mean it does not work. All this The more I read and learn about our brain, specially our subconscious mind, the more I think its crazy, bizarre and well, alot of ” I cant see it therefore I cant believe it” kind of stuff. But what if it is real? My biggest fear in life is that I am about to die and I then realize that it was all real, that I could have done a difference for myself, for my life on my own. That’s my biggest fear in life.

I mean can all these people be wrong about this: Jim Carry, David Lynch, Oprah, Mirranda Kerr,Tony Robbins, Jerry Seinfield, Deepak Chopra, Ray Dalio, Martin Scorsese, Dr Oz, Russel Brand, Ellen Degerenes, Gisele Bundchen, Hugh Jackman…….Really?
