I just had a shower and cant wait to start the day. Its sunny outside so I am excited for this Sunday to get started. Today’s plans are to drive up the coast with Kim and show her that part of Sydney. She is originally from Brisbane and so she has not been up there. Our fist stop, after a take away coffee of course is to meet up with my friend, who also lives in Brisbane, for breakfast.
Mia and Tim recently had their baby and I cannot wait to meet her in person!
Afterwards we will probably drive around the coastal area and stop and maybe Soldiers Beach but also Killcare. Two of my absolute favorites. Cannot wait to show Kim.
Here are some pictures of our day in Balmain yesterday. We picked up our coffee, well I did, Kim doesn’t drink hot beverages. And she don’t like red wine, chocolate nor shellfish!? Crazy girl. Anyway, she drove me to this place just by the water and we went for a walk in the sun, taking in this beautiful view. The colorful houses made me feel like I was back in Europe. Doesn’t it remind you of Denmark or Holland?
After it was time for lunch. We walked up and down Darling Steet to try and find a place but it was so hard. Every damn place looked amazing! In fact that whole street was just amazing, cant wait to be bring Ambrose here.
Finally we picked Kafeine. We both salads, I think Kim had satay chicken with crispy noodles and I had pulled duck sallad. Both very very nice.
Now: Off to the coast. xx
Their view is very nice. Trust me. Clearly my camera did not manage to capture that..
When your camera only can take selfies 🙂
I really wanted to write to you about this really cute little waterfront cafe in Neutral Bay called Thelma & Louise. But when Ambrose took me there, (last week) I still had my old phone with the crappy camera. Well, the phone and camera was absolutely fine. I just dropped the phone about 6 times.. all in one day 🙁
And the reason why I took the pictures weirdly like this is because after the 4th drop, only the front camera would work. The front camera gave in and died, forever!
But back to Thelma & Louise waterfront cafe’ as they are called. If you are ever around in that area (Neutral Bay) and want a place for lunch or sweets, this is your place. What I loved most about this place, except from there pretty view, was that they only use organic and locally produce. Alot of there herbs and vegetables are grown in their own back garden.
More places should do that.
If you want better pictures 😉 or their menu, here is a bit more information : /http://www.thelmaandlouise.com.au/
Have a good Thursday. xx
Just managed to get some blurry pictures from Ashley’s hens night at Pullman hotel on Saturday night, but that have to do 🙂
In just a couple of weeks its Ash and Stefano’s wedding so Saturday night we had been invited to celebrate Ash’s hens and Stefano’s bucks.
I dropped Ambrose off at the boys and drove myself to Kali’s place. Unfortunately my batteries decided that it had to absolutely run out during this drive (!) so I had to manage to find the way to Bronte without GPS. I was in the car for 2 hours…
No GPS and me focusing on driving on the “wrong side” is not a great combination!
I was still a couple of hours early before we had to leave for Ashley’s hens so me and Kali had 2 bottles of rose’ at the balcony before heading to Pullman hotels.
It was really nice to meet her friends before the wedding. We had a really good time, Hacienda is such a beautiful restaurant and bar. Thank you Melanie for organizing such good night and that you for my invite 🙂
Ashley is gonna be such a lovely bride. Cant wait for their wedding!
I know I promised to write about the first days back home. But I have to start today with letting you know about this great gym I found! They are called Planet Fitness .I will go into more details about them later on but for now I just wanted to encourage everyone to make sure to break a sweat everytime you go to the gym or do any type of exercise. Otherwise, whats the point!?
If you don’t want to break a sweat at the gym, at least get your heart pumping. Its so good for you. Even if you will look like me here, a washed cloth hahah, at least you know you gave it your all.
Exercise, worlds best endorphin.
Okey that’s enough on breaking sweats at the gym 🙂 Now: back to getting myself back on track with remote work and remote studies!
Spending days with this chubby little thing <3
Here is some pictures from my lovely Saturday. I started with waking up at 6am, did some meditation, work, small breakfast. And then at 9am I got super tired and went back to bed like a weirdo for about an hour. Not like me at all!
Forced myself to get up, had a shower and made plans to go to my cousins house, we planed to get some tan in her backyard. Its rarely very sunny in Sweden so you have to capture the moment as soon as the sun is out!
But of course we got tired of just lying there so after an hour or two we took the whole family out to the city for some shopping. Very bad idea. It was hot and humid. Everyone else had apparently decided to do the same. And it was a massive sale going on. So I took her three children for some ice coffee and cake at NK while Mona and John did his shopping. So much nicer.
Around 6pm we all started to get hungry and I was promised one of the best sushi restaurants in the city.
It called Raw Sushi & Grill and its located at Rörstrandsgatan 9 on St Eriksplan in Stockholm. I can recommend this place to all you sushi lovers visiting or living in Stockholm.
I also had 2 cocktails, of course 🙂 It felt like a “must do” on a beautiful summer nights like that.
First the one I always take; Whiskey Sour, not a hit at this place unfortunately. Second, I had an Raspberry Mojjito, which was much better.
The plan was to finish te evening with a movie at their place but in the car on the way back I felt that maybe its time to go back to the apartment. I had been with them since breakfast haha
Love days like this. I want to spend as much time as possible with the people I love here in Sweden before returning back home.
Have a great night amore’s. xx
I have no idea if I have mentioned it before because its been alot these last few day BUT we are moving from our apartment in North Sydney. Yesterday the moving truck came and the day was just focused on getting it done!
We have both moved quite a lot so we got it all done in 4 hours which is pretty great. With moving help of course!
After we had unload everything we decided to be done with it all for a while. We drove back to our now empty apartment, took the longest shower and went out for dinner. We wanted Rio Noodles, the number one Ramen place in Sydney, but the line was about 20 meters of people waiting just to get in so…no thank you!
Instead we went to, what must be The Best Thai around this area. Its called Triology and its located on the main street ( where all the restaurants are) in Neutral Bay. So damn good every time! We had red curry with duck and crispy pork belly Pad see ew.
Now its Sunday, we woke up early at Ambrose family house and drove straight in to the city. First stop was breakfast at
Le Renaissance Patisserie, french style, which for me is coffee and croissant. Fantastic start of the day if you ask me 🙂
After that we strolled around the Danks street produce merchants which is filled with local produces. Amazing place!
We decided to have a “picnic” of tapas our last night in our house, and this market had all the great stuff for it.
I am already excited about this. We have no furniture at all so we are going to sleep on a mattress on the floor. We have candles, a picnic and maybe a movie on our laptop. Late night swim at the rooftop pool.
Its gonna be great!!
Thai food at its best.
For 2 days now I have been going to this bakery in North Sydney called St.Honore’, that we found out is the bast bakery around this area. And both days I get there, not super early but around normal breakfast time, and everytime they sold out of almond croissant! Everytime!
I have not had one of those in like, years so it had to be the damn almond croissant, I just could not get myself to have some other unhealthy thing when all I wanted was the croissant. The girl who worked there actually advised me to call and reserve one (!) hahaha And like a true cookie monster I called them this morning and had one put aside for me.
That and one espresso while listening to the rain outside the window was my nice start of this day 🙂
If you want to try it our for yourself reserve one here.
This Tuesday has so far been pretty good. Neither of us got much sleep but got up around 7.30am, did my morning meditation, had the breakfast I have been obsessed with these last few days – mini sesame crackers with strawberry jam and cheese with green tea.
Then I had alot to catch up on at my volunteer place so took the bus there ( its in the middle of city, so absolutely no parking spots and therefore I leave the car at home)
In the afternoon I came home, super tired from all the buzz and noise from the city. Worked a bit on my laptop in the lounge while admiring the sunset.
When Ambrose came home from the gym that evening we had date night planed so jumped in the car towards one of our favorite Japanese restaurants here in Sydney. Think there Ramen is voted something like top 3 in Sydney. Its called Ryo’s Noodles in Crows Nest. They dont take any reservations and its ALWAYS a long line outside so make sure you are there in time.
The original plan was to go to the movies first but we were both tired from lack of sleep, and we could not wait to get to our Ramen place! Afterwards we got some groceries for tomorrows dinner as we have friends coming over. We finished our night by going for a drive and singing along in the car.
Here is what I love about this city, almost everywhere you go, or get lost in has this perfect view or park or something. It was freezing cold so we only got a short stole in a little park overlooking the city.
Back at home now, had the longest hot shower and now I am about to fall asleep. Sweet dreams everyone. xx
Monday here and I am happy, lots going on, but I am still and very happy.
Lets have a look of some of the things that went on during the weekend 🙂
Spend some time doing long walk with Ambrose, here we are in a very windy Coogee. Ambrose had things to do so I asked him to drop me off in Bondi. As soon as I got out of the car I realized I left my phone, wallet, bus-card everything in the car. Did not have anyone’s number and started to freak out a bit when I realized I was stuck. Luckily I found a waitress who helped me out! Ambrose came back with my stuff and I could stay and do some work. With this view 🙂 🙂
We have become regulars at the Spanish Tapas restaurant down the street from us! They serve great breakfast. I had salmon, truffle eggs, avocado and I swapped my grilled tomatoes for grilled halloumi. I don’t like hot tomatoes, weird but what can I say…
As I said, we really like the Spanish place so we booked table for their Sunday tapas & sangria specials. We had reservation for 2pm, think we finally ended up there after 4pm… But we had Kathleen, Heath, Bart and Kali over for some pre-sangria at our place and we had so much fun so non of us wanted to leave. After a couple of hours of bar hopping and gambling (here in Australia its very common to go to a pub and bet on horses) we got hungry again. Or maybe it was drunk-hunger, who knows but we got into this very Chinese restaurant that always looks amazing and started ordering well, everything. I was too busy enjoying so missed taking pictures but damn it was soooo good! We are definitely going back and I suggest anyone who likes a bit elevated Chinese food do the same. Location is: 101 Miller St, North Syndey
Good evening! or good day if you are in Europe 🙂
Here are the rest of our night out last Thursday. Such a perfect night!
Started by taking the ferry again. best way to see most of Vivid I think.
I kind of wish they had the light show more often than once a year. I mean look at this magic!
We were all starving so after a quick stroll around the city, we headed to The Bavarian Bier Cafe’
The bier, the food, the shots, the service, the atmosphere….. GO THERE!
After almost 3,5 h of eating, drinking and doing shots we headed to next amazing place; a whiskey bar hidden in an alley.
I love love love this city. One of my favorite cocktails, whiskey sour. And here they know how to make them perfect.
I will update this post with street names etc to all these places later. I have to go set up our night, we have tapas with an old movie coming up 🙂 Its raining outside so this feel perfect on a night like this. Enjoy your evening. xx
Even though I was a bit grumpy today turned out to be great! We just came home from a perfect night out in the city. More about that tomorrow, just wanted to show you what a nice picnic we had today in North Sydney.
For lunch today I made these lovely but easy fish tacos and then some fresh watermelon. With a great view thats all you really need 🙂
I made alot of food today as you can see, I was actually excused so I meditated in the sun in the afternoon and fell asleep straight after. I never ever sleep in the middle of the day! But it was good that I did, would not make the whole night in town otherwise 🙂
Now sleep, more from tonight with lots of great tips for you guys in the morning. xx
We are just back from our first Vivid night ! It was really good except the millions of people everywhere…. More about Vivid in Sydney tomorrow. Thought I was gonna give you some tips on the best spots to get to see Vivid.
Anyway, back home now and this is all we had at home so this was our dinner. It also happens to be 2 of my favorite dishes. Ambrose did not like it at all.
Its frozen spinach heated up with a bit of chicken stock and a soft boiled egg. And 2 minute chicken noodles with one teaspoon sour cream, tarragon and lots and lots of lemon / lime. Its so damn yummy. Nobody believes me when I tell them but it is, I promise hahah
Somehow I feel a bit sick again! I just got over one cold the other week and now again. So Im back in bed resting. Made myself and Ambrose tea with honey and lemon to get better. So nice to just get to chill sometimes, don’t you think?
Friday evening arrived and we had 2 big events ahead. First stop was my acting group organizing a big dinner ( around 80 pp) in Pyrmont. I was in charge of dessert, a chocolate mousse, that did not go as planed. The taste was there but the texture of the mouse was more like diarrhea… 🙁
I cant do desserts !!!!
After the acting event we hurried back over the bridge. Jessica’s 30th dinner party was up next….
I had so much fun! Laughed all night of all their stories so not many pictures unfortunately.
The venue is so nice. Perfect if you are planning a dinner with friends. The outside area has open fire which makes it even more cozy, specially now during winter. Make reservations and check out their menu Here
Saturday morning. We had nothing booked in, the weather was amazing which is a perfect combination. We jumped into the car and decided to explore a new(ish) area here in Sydney – Petersham. This is known as the “Portuguese” area of Sydney, which means full of delicious Portuguese food. A big recommendation is restaurant Silvas.
They are famous for their chicken burgers and I now understand why! If you are in this neighborhood check this place out
Black coffee is a must after a heavy lunch like that.
Before heading back home, we drove by an area called Breakfast Point. We were walking by their lake and suddenly Ambrose slipped in the mud literately flew of the ground and crashed on his back. That was the end of our exploring since he was now covered in stinky mud 🙂 🙂
What a day. I don’t know where to even start! But I can tell you this, this day has included a lot of everything you can possibly imagine, and more…
Don’t really have time to go into details nor do I feel like it either. I just sat down for a moment to write you guys and then I’m back at it again. Tonight we have the dinner for the Pyrmont community and we at the theater group are holding the dinner this year. Around 80 people are showing up so alot of food has to be prepared. I am in charge of desert together with Josh. They decided on chocolate mousse. I have never made chocolate mousse in my life. In fact, I have never even MADE a dessert in my life. Savory dishes I know, sweets….not so much!
And for that many people 🙁
After that we drive straight back over the bridge because its Jess’s 30th tonight. Yeay!
Hoping my mousse sets in the fridge right now! Please, pretty please just set. One batch looks great but the other one is a bit runny still. Fingers crossed.
Be back later with some pictures from tonight. Until then, enjoy your Friday everyone. xx
What a strange day we had over here! At least the first part of it. We got up late, had some breakfast and decided to watch an episode of Sence8 and wait until the heavy rain would stop. After that episode, and still rain we were just hanging out, playing with our phones a bit and starting to get well, extremely bored hahaha.
We went out for a walk but decided quickly that it was too chilly even though the rain stopped. So we jumped into the car and drove to Summer Hill, an area I never been too for some coffee.
Now back home for some inventive tacos.
I improvised this recipe because this is what was in out fridge and non of us felt like going out in the cold for groceries. It turned out to be fantastic. At least if I can judge myself 🙂
Prepare the meat as usual, onions, cheese and whatever else you have have. I do recommend the meat to be half pork, half beef. Just tastier that way.
Now, instead of iceberg salad and cucumber and stuff, I made slaw. This way you have an pre-made salad with all the goodies instead of butting them all in bit by bit.
Shred all these ingredients into an bowl :
1/2 pink lady apple – 3 dl kale – 3 pickled cucumbers – 1 carrot – 3 dl cauliflower. 2 tbs sour creme – 1 tbs mayonnaise – salt/pepper . Mix and enjoy inside a heated up wrap with the minced meat, tomatoes, onion and salsa.
